Background
Path of the Paddle Association has created a new and unique tourism product by showcasing the cultural and natural resource heritage of Northwestern Ontario’s waterways through the development of campsites, portages and access points along its trail. This is a large project with an estimated 1,100+kms of water trail developed, including the Trans Canada Trail in Northwestern Ontario.

Path of the Paddle is an incorporated non-profit organization with a dedicated Board and active volunteer Regional Trail Committees (RTC). With an updated Business plan developed, the current board has a well planned road map for the future.

Every non-profit faces challenges and an engaged effective Board ensures the organization can overcome them. Currently our biggest challenge is long-term funding. If you feel the Path of the Paddle Association would benefit from your involvement, we welcome you to fill out a Member Application and sit in on a Board of Directors meeting to see what we are all about.
Goals &
Objectives
Over the next three years Path of the Paddle Association plans to move forward in these seven areas, which are its goals.

Trail and campsite maintenance
-
Regional Trail Committees
-
Emergency plan
-
Brand awareness and identification
-
Governance – renewal and succession
-
Maps, guidebook, guidelines
-
Non-Canadian resident camping
The result of working in these directions will be that Path of the Paddle will be a segment of The Great Trail that is known and recognized by potential users who are local, regional, national and international. Both the physical and information infrastructure will be well maintained and up to date. And the human infrastructure of volunteers and staff will be robust.
