Why become a member of the Path of the Paddle Association ( POPA)
POPA is a 1,100 K segment of the Trans Canada Trail (The Great Trail), which, in effect, is a national monument and a salute to Indigenous people. The POPA is an incorporated non-for-profit driven by volunteers and named in honor of the renowned film maker and paddler Bill Mason.
As one traverses the POP, she can’t help but to be struck with the wonder of nature, and the miracle that is untouched Northwest Ontario. One must consciously struggle to miss vast opportunities for awe along this highly emotive trail. Luckily, long segments are free from the Internet, and please remember along your adventure (whether just a few hours of paddling, to many days) to periodically pause to listen, smell and observe what you are traversing through, to be one with our world-class trail.
Membership means being a part a group of exceptional people working to maintain this grand vision for both all of Northwest Ontario, and all of Canada (the 25,000 K of the TCT). It means being a part of a group effort for this national monument that, with our combined efforts, will be conserved forever, for perpetuity. Besides the pride and camaraderie of membership, there are additional perks including 15% off in stock Paddlesports accessories at Wilderness Supply stores in Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, 10% off maps of the POPA route at Chaltrek , 10% off of clothing at Tall Pines Marina, 10% off drop ins and punch cards at MVMNT studio in Kenora.
